Wow! The Experience Conference this year was incredible! If you haven’t heard of the Experience Conference, it is a music conference for worship leaders, praise teams, pastors, worship musicians and tech teams. Alexi and I went because Alexi falls into the category of worship musicians.
Almost every Sunday night for the 5:30pm service at the Alexandria campus Alexi plays drums with the DC Metro Church (www.dcmetro.org) worship team. Every once in a while Alexi also plays drums with the worship team at Alexandria Presbyterian Church (www.alexandriapres.org). I came along because I love worship music and wanted to be there to take notes for Alexi during all the workshops we attended (that’s my strength-not so much Alexi’s! haha).
At the conference Alexi and I were able to network with worship songwriters and musicians from all over the United States! We were also given the time to worship God in a real way with many people who love Jesus! It was incredible! This is the website talking more about the conference if you’re interested in learning more: www.experienceconference.com
We went to a pre-conference event called “Worship Songwriting Intensive”. It was a great event set up for worship songwriters. At the event we personally met executives and songwriters from Integrity Music (www.integritymusic.com) and Word Music Publishing (www.wordmusic.com). We instagrammed a picture of us (shown below) with songwriters Jennie Lee Riddle (Songwriter of “Revelation Song” along with many others) and Glenn Packiam (Co-Songwriter of “Your Name” along with many others). They actually co-wrote together “The Mystery of Faith”. We loved hearing their stories and learning from them. God is using them in powerful ways!
Since the conference took place at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Alexi and I were able to take a day to visit Epcot Park. We enjoyed all the culture and the fireworks at night! The last day of the conference Night 1 of the Night of Joy took place at the Magic Kingdom. This is where Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman and many other Christian artists performed either in front of the castle or on a side stage. We really enjoyed this conference (minus being away from our little one all week!) and would recommend it! Thanks to all of our friends and family that helped contribute to our trip!
